Week 7 tutorial
In the week 7 tutorial we had an AFL workshop; this was an
interesting day for me. At first I was nervous and thought much of
the day would be spent playing AFL. As I do not follow any sport
or play AFL I was worried about making a fool out of myself.
Interestingly however, we did not spend too much time actually
playing the game. We had a really good coach who started off teaching us the basic skills and explaining the
rules throughout each activity. This was also informative for me to reflect on my own teaching practices and
think about how I can make such sports fun for students who also feel like me before a game. The coach
simplified each step making it easy to remember. We practiced skills such as bouncing a football off the
ground, how to hit/pass the ball with your hand and how to kick the ball. This experience was a valuable one
for me as I was able to feel confident in my ability.
